I expected to drive a rental car but I don’t think it was a rental car. Just someone’s car. Very dirty and smelly. Tank wasn’t full, outside had a lot of scratches but no one recorded so I added full insurance because I was worried that I will get charged all of damages which were already there.

Pickup directions were little vague as it being a restaurant? Paperwork didn’t relate to what was on offer and asked to sign a insurance waiver after the fact wasn’t happy about either, person in Queenstown didn’t speak any English so was hard to converse otherwise was good experience thanks

Some hire companies are unsure about the conditions they posted, such as their excess. This comes to light, once you go there and pick up the car. They may then insist on a higher excess. Thrifty appear to be rather poorly organised there.
